The Joint Veterans Committee of Nash and Edgecombe Counties will be holding a flag raising ceremony at Jack Laughery Park in Rocky Mount on March 17th, at 11:00 AM. Each month the Committee honors a deceased veteran of Nash or Edgecombe County and their family by presenting them with a flag flown over the Park the previous month in their honor. The flag presentation this month will be to the family of Chesley Marvin Holder, Sgt., United States Army … A new flag is then raised in honor of another veteran. This month’s honoree is George Dennis Batts, AFMC, U.S. Navy, and shall fly over the park until the next event. The public is encouraged to attend to honor those who so honorably served our nation.
